Passion Protests

$25.00

My name is Myah Freeman or you can call me MyahnArt, the name of my brand! I am currently a rising senior at Florida State University majoring in the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program with a concentration in painting and sculpture. I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida and I’ve always been very talented since I was a kid, from being able to draw portraits of family members to hand building ceramic sculptures. Much of my work serves as a means of advocacy for the Black community.

“Passion Protests”
This work depicts silhouette portraits of three revolutionary women: Angela Davis, Kathleen Neal Cleaver, and Nina Simone. I created this work as a means of celebrating the women in our past who have used their talents and passion to make a change in their community, specifically the Black community. Hence the name “Passion Protests.”

To me, my work is a means of not only bringing light to the troubles that we face as a Black community but also to the beauties. When I create work about our troubles, it is a means of emotional release and communication with those who are also aware. When I create work about our beauties, it is a means of reinforcing and affirming the magic and power that we possess as a race.
